ABOUT ABOUT

GDPR legislation will come into effect as of the 25th May 2018. New regulations due to come into force in May mean that companies must re-examine how they handle the personal data of their customers and employees. This event helps outline the steps should businesses take in the run-up.

On 25 May this year, new laws introduced under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into effect. Comprehensive and wide-ranging, GDPR will affect any business that handles the personal details of EU citizens, including as clients and employees. These aim to give people an improved understanding of how their data is used, and give them the power to raise complaints, no matter where the data is stored.

Given that some speculators have suggested that processes such as payroll, email storage and even printing may need to include some kind of GDPR compliance, there’s a lot of information and potential impact for companies to assess. GDPR effectively replaces the Data Protection Act, which has been in force for nearly 20 years. Despite being EU-based legislation, GDPR will still form part of UK law post Brexit.
