ABOUT ABOUT

Hinkley Point C in Somerset is under construction. With a total cost of £18 billion, it is currently the largest construction project in Western Europe and when complete, will provide low carbon electricity to around six million homes. With 25,000 new employment and countless supply chain opportunities available during construction, this project could involve companies across the Black Country that wish to expand their business outside the region.

In addition, with seven more nuclear power stations earmarked for construction over the coming years, it is the start of a boom for specialised skills. With those sites dotted around the UK, there are obvious opportunities for a central hub of expertise and manpower to supplement the local supply chain.

This event is suitable to any business within the manufacturing and constuction sectors.

Our guest speaker, Greg Saunders, will share in-depth details of the opportunities available for local manufacturing and construction businesses to promote and develop their skills outside the region and to showcase their capabilities. This opportunity is giving Black Country businesses the chance to be part of building one of the largest, most complex projects in Europe; something vital to the country’s future energy needs.

Greg Saunders is Chairman of Somerset Chamber of Commerce which is delivering the supply chain for Hinkley Point C. He is also a Partner and Head of the Nuclear Energy team at Clarke Willmott, the law firm who is actively advising businesses on entering into contracts on site.
